Bike Polo Handlebars and
Stems
This picture shows the disadvantage of standard mountain bike
bars, which make it difficult to hit on the near (left) side of the bike.
The player shown here is reaching under his arm to hit, which prevents him
from generating any power. The other three players are using our bars, and
would have no such difficulty.
Polo Handlebar: $10
Patented design to facilitate strokes on either side of the bike.
Chrome-plated steel
Hard Rubber Grips: $7.50
Solid grips cover bar ends; no plugs required.
Extended-reach stems:
150mm reach, 12 degree rise. Recommended for use with
polo handlebar to keep it from hitting one's knees.
Quill Stem: $30
Available in 22.2mm, 25.4mm, and 28.6mm sizes; polished silver finish
only.
A-head stem: $30
Available in 1" and 1-1/8" sizes; shown in black, but currently available
only with polished silver finish.
Stem risers:
Stem risers can be used to adjust the height of the
stem, so that the handlebars can be set at the same height as the seat, which
is considered ideal for bike polo.
A-head stem risers (top) raise an a-head stem either 3.5" (top left) or
2.5" (top right). $25.00 apiece.
Quill stem risers (bottom) raise a 22.2mm quill stem 4.0" (bottom right),
or can be used to adapt a 21.1mm quill fork to a 25.4mm a-head stem when
combined with a 1mm shim (21.1mm stem riser bottom left; shim bottom center).
The 22.2mm stem riser can also be used with a 25.4mm a-head stem if one wants
to raise the bars less than 4". Quill stem riser: $25.00
Shim: $2.00
PLEASE NOTE THAT THE COMBINATION OF A QUILL STEM RISER AND AN A-HEAD STEM
SHOULD BE USED ONLY FOR BIKE POLO ON A RELATIVELY SMOOTH FIELD, AND NOT FOR
MOUNTAIN BIKING ON ROUGH TERRAIN.
